Ship Equip signs with Frontline, the world’s largest tanker owner, for delivery of the SEVSAT high speed broadband solution on Frontline‘s tanker fleet.

The milestone order no. 1000 came as part of a large fleet contract of 67 vessels signed last week. Since the launch in 2003 SEVSAT from Ship Equip has gone from being the VSAT product that challenged the established to the product that sets the standard.

The statement comes from Thomas Andersson Vice President for procurement in Rederi AB Transatlantic. He explains: To get a job for an offshore vessel, you need highly experienced and motivated crew . In many ways you can say it is the crew that is awarded the contract rather than the vessel itself. In such an environment you cannot afford to lose good crew.

Maritime satellite communication is fast rising. A survey into the Ship Equip customer base shows that 770 Ships using the satellite broadband system SEVSAT (Ship Equip VSAT) increased its monthly data transmissions from 9,1 GigaBytes per ship per month in April 2009 to 19.7 GigaBytes per ship per month in April 2010.

SINGAPORE, Dec. 2008 – Ship Equip, the leading global supplier of VSAT solutions for the maritime industry, announced that Formosa Plastic Marine Corporation, one of the biggest ship operators in Taiwan has chosen SEVSAT for a fleet of 25 vessels.
